But like many modern vehicles, it uses an electronic throttle system that causes throttle lag, dulling the driving experience.

The Pedal Commander® throttle response controller removes that sluggishness and gives you full control over your gas pedal. WHAT IS THROTTLE LAG?

When you first press down on the accelerator, there is a delay before anything actually happens. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) systems cause this as they take the signal from the accelerator pedal when you press it and send it to the vehicle’s ECU. All of this process causes a delay called throttle lag. Besides, manufacturers deliberately leave the delay there because it makes the vehicle suitable for various types of drivers.

The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:

Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.

Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.

Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.

After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.

I stuck this on my 2014 Dodge Avenger SXT 2.4 L and the throttle response is similar to the pick up of the V6 I test drove recently. Idk if $300 is worth that but it definitely increases your acceleration. I used to have to put the pedal to the ground while pulling out onto a highway just to get to 60mph and praying it’d shift sooner. With this, you get to the speed you want much quicker so it’s not dragged out until you shift. I believe that is what’s also helping my mpg because instead of staying at a high rpm for awhile to get to my speed, it jumps right there. I use sport 2 and it’s a noticeable difference from before I had this installed. If you want quicker throttle response to get you to the speed you want faster and possible better mpg, pick this up but wait till it goes on sale for like $260 or less.

I recommend pedal commander to everyone. I have one in my challenger. The purposeful throttle lag car manufacturers implement isn’t always as noticeable to us because that’s how all car’s throttles work. But when you are able to minimize or all together delete that lag it’s crazy. Your acceleration increases immensely. Are you gaining horsepower? No. But that’s the beauty of this device. It’s plug and play, no changes to the PCM, no tuning needed, anyone can install it, and as long as you aren’t changing modes on the device WHILE your foot is on the gas pedal you won’t see any engine light codes. I am blown away at how something so simple has made so much fun!
